Video DownloadHelper on Firefox
Video DownloadHelper started life as a Firefox extension and remains one of the most mature add-ons on that browser. Here is the Firefox-specific setup.
SHORT ANSWERInstall from addons.mozilla.org, allow it for the sites you use, and note that Firefox controls the save folder under Settings → General → Downloads.
Install in Firefox
- Open the Firefox Add-ons page and click Add to Firefox.
- Accept the permissions; the toolbar icon appears (right-click the toolbar to show it if hidden).
- Play a video, then click the icon to review detected streams.
Where files save on Firefox
Firefox uses the folder under Settings → General → Files and Applications → Downloads. See the save-location guide for details.
Firefox vs Chrome
- Both detect and download standard and HLS streams well.
- DASH (.mpd) merging and fast conversion rely on the companion app on either browser.
- Firefox makes it easy to limit the add-on to specific sites.
Private windows Extensions are disabled in private windows unless you allow it per add-on — enable it if you download in private mode.
